Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday slammed former Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith saying he is completely out of date to give lectures on modern policing.
The former president also staged a walk out of the event organized by the Nigeria Police Force, where the former IG was expected to give lectures on effective policing.
Obasanjo said for the police to discharge its duty effectively like its been done all around the world, it must harness the opportunities inherent in Information and Communication Technology, ICT.
He said: “Police must be aware and in touch with new developments in other parts of the globe. I can see my former IGP Musiliu Smith.
“Smith is completely out of date to give lecture on police duty. He has experience to share with you, but not on modern way of doing things. I don’t even know how digital you (Smith) are.”
TheNewsGuru.com reports that the former president was the special guest of honour, at the Zone II maiden biannual special training and capacity building programme billed to hold at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
He however left the programme in annoyance because of their refusal to keep to scheduled time
The former president reportedly arrived arrived 90 minutes before the event, which was scheduled to start 10.30am but didn’t begin until 11.52am.
Obasanjo then informed those present, that he had to return to Ogun State for another event.
“Next time, before you call me, please be ready,” he said.
