JUST IN: Saraki swears-in Senator Adeleke

Senator representing Osun West Senatorial district, Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday took his oath of office as a senator on the floor of Senate.

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Wednesday performed the oath of administration on the new senator moments after Senate approved the votes and proceedings of the previous day’s business.

The new senator received his certificate of return at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday.

Adeleke, younger brother of the late incumbent, Isiaka Adeleke, contested the Osun Senatorial bye-election, held last Saturday, on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He defeated Mudashiru Hussein of All Progressives Congress, winning in nine of the 10 LGAs that constitute the senatorial district.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that while late Senator Isiaka Adeleke was an APC senator, his brother, Ademola emerged on the platform of the PDP. With his emergence, the PDP number in the Senate rise to 42, with APC still is 66.

Currently there are 108 Senators in the 109-member body. One seat, Anambra Central, is vacant following the nullification of the election of Uche Ekwunife.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that a viral video of the new Senator dancing in a celebratory mood has gone viral.
