Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has signed an instrument constituting an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to review the classification of traditional chieftaincy stools in the state.
According to a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the State governor on Electronic Media, Wike will inaugurate the Panel on Monday 13th March, 2017 at the Executive Council Chambers of the State’s Government House, Port Harcourt by 2 pm.
The governor said, “In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and other powers enabling me in that behalf, I Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (CON), Governor of Rivers State hereby constitute and appoint an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to review the classification of traditional stools in Rivers State.
While Mr Sam Egbe is to Chairman the Panel, Sir Samuel Ibemeru, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs will serve as Secretary.
Members of the Panel are Dr Samuel Wenedo, Dr Benibo George and Dr Godspower Jackson Irikana -Member
Henry Amadi Esq, Principal State Counsel, Ministry of Justice will serve as counsel to the Panel of Inquiry.
The Administrative Panel of Inquiry has full powers and authority to hold public hearings into the aforesaid matters, the statement stated.
