A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries held in Rivers state.
TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports the High Court nullified the congresses that produced Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-favoured Ojukaye Flag-Amachree-led executives from Ward, LGA and State levels.
The court ruled that all the congresses that conducted all the electoral positions in disobedient to court order is null and void, and consequently nullified the APC primaries for disobeying initial court order.
By implication, the court declared that all primaries conducted by the Ojukaye-led executives are non-existent in law.
The court, therefore, set aside the Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly primaries conducted through the indirect process through the Ojukaye-led executives in the state.
Meanwhile, for failure of the APC to conduct party primaries in Zamfara state within the stipulated timeframe, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has barred the party from fielding candidates for 2019 elections.
TNG reports INEC barred the APC from fielding candidates for the Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections in the State for the 2019 general elections.
