Finally, the Federal Government of Nigeria on Sunday shut down former capital city, Lagos,Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the political headquarters of Nigeria.
Also shut down is Ogun State an adjoining state to Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial haven for two weeks over covid 19 pandemic.
After waking up from a very deep slumber, President Muhammadu Buhari held the bull by the horns and shut down the nerve centres of Nigeria.
This dilibitating development will definitely have its toll on human and economic life of the country that is already edging towards economic recession due to the glut in the global oil industry.
As at today, the effect had started biting as in a bid to beat the 11.pm deadline most shopping malls and commercial banks in Kubwa, a satellite town to FCT showcased large queues not seen for a long time.
The beauty of it all is that the operators of the malls and banks ensured that all customers were sanitised before gaining entry leading to a long queue outside.
Nigeria records 2nd death
Barely eight days after Nigeria recorded its first death to Covid-19, another Nigerian on Monday died due to complications of the virus.
Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, made the confirmation during a press briefing in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
The first to die from COVID-19 in the country was Engineer Suleiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC).
Benue index case cries out for help
Mrs Susan Okpe, a Nigerian/British citizen diagnosed to have symptoms of the virus has cried out to NCDC and the British Government to evacuate her from Benue.
Mrs Okpe who came to Nigeria to perform her mother’s burial rite took to the social medis demanding that the British government and NCDC should urgently evacuate her from Benue state.
But another twist to the story is that the family of Mrs Okpe insists that their sister had undergone all tests in Britain before coming to Nigeria which proved negative.
The brother of Mrs Okpe Dr Felix Lawani in a chat with thenewsguru.com, TNG, insists that his sister is Covid-19 free.
India crosses 1000 cases
New Delhi, March 29: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India crossed 1,000 on Sunday. According to data provided by the Health Ministry, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 reached 1,024. Out of the total confirmed cases, 96 people have been recovered from the disease, while 29 people lost their lives.

At present, there are 899 confirmed cases in the country. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state, where 186 people were tested positive, and eight people also lost their lives, followed by Kerala.
