Nigerian comedian, Kehinde Otolorin a.k.a Kenny Blaq has said reality TV show, Big Brother Naija isn’t responsible for people’s apathy towards issues of national importance.
The comedian made the statement in light of the recent criticisms against the just concluded Bg Brother Naija.
Speaking in a chat with TheNewsGuru, the versatile comedian said: “We create happiness for ourselves. We have been focusing on national issues for a while now and nothing has changed. We cannot kill ourselves; we have to create happiness for ourselves. It is not about who wants to die for the country. It is about doing what makes you happy. Big Brother Naija is not responsible for people not caring about the state of the country. We have just learnt how to make our own happiness a priority”.
Speaking further, he countered the notion that social media comedians have talen over the comedy terrain.
“I am not a social media comedian, I am a stand-up comedian. I do what I do on stage and I am still relevant. The only reason why people will say that is because social media itself has taken over. People hardly watch the news on TV these days. If there is anything happening, it first of all breaks on social media. I cannot remember the last time I watched anything related to the news on TV. If there is anything happening in the country, there will always be somebody online to talk about it”.
