Actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli has urged Nigerians to stop the habit of trolling people on social media.

Oboli’s statement is coming after some Nigerians attacked Adeniyi Johnson about the news of his his ex-wife’s engagement and childbirth.

Though Adeniyi congratulated  Toyin Abraham and her fiancée Kola Ajeyemi, the trolls still condemned him over losing Toyin Abraham to another man.

According to Omoni:”I understand celebrating a winner or someone who has had something amazing happen to them but if there’s someone or other people at the other end of that win, leave them be! Let’s be gracious guys. Making people who are perhaps feeling bad feel worse is ugly and God don’t like ugly. Some people are not as strong as you think they are. Don’t be the reason someone commits suicide. Let’s be guided”.

Omoni’s statement has triggered different reactions from Nigerians on social media.

@Oluwathelma: Johnson and his wife has had it hot on the internet these past few days

@itsPriceless: Watever is happening now they caused it oo… pple were watching… where was this energy wen insults and trolling were happening…

Onyxgodwin: Exactly. Most people can’t seem to uplift one person without trying to put someone else down. It’s not that serious. Be kind🎉

@Jayywealth: The fact that the person might still win tomorrow . We can do well by encouraging them not to loose hope rather than trolling and giving provocative and harshly comments just in the name of troll. We can do better . It’s cost us nothing.

Fairyglowtheraphy: Please loud this with microphone . Ah , the hate comments I have seen of late can actually drive people to suicide . And the person those people dropping hate comments are cheering for is not a hateful person . The person is the kindest , amiable and lovable person among her peers
