Don’t think you are respected because of your streaming numbers- Burna Boy tells artistes
Burna Boy, Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste has thrown a jab at artistes who measure their success by streaming numbers.
The ‘Killing dem’ crooner who recently performed at Coachella made reference to viral songs like ‘Baby Shark’ and ‘Gangnam style’, adding that success shouldn’t be measured by the number of views and listens artistes get for their songs.
Many believe Burna Boy is throwing a jab at Mayorkun who recently took to social media to celebrate 70 million streams across different platforms.
According to him: “This streaming shit make people feel they are actually talented. Don’t think you are talented or respected because of your streaming numbers”.
His statement has sparked different reactions, with many urging him to focus on his blossoming music career, rather than ranting on social media.
