The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Instagram celebrity Ismaila Mustapha better known as ‘Mompha.’
Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, confirmed to journalists that Mompha was detained by the anti-graft agency in the federal captial territory (FCT).
Mompha, who is renowned for his luxurious lifestyle has a reputation for the display of expensive cars and properties on Instagram.
Although there are claims that he fled his base in Dubai to evade arrest from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL),countless Nigerians are convinced that the source of Mompha’s wealth is illegal..
As of the time of filing this report, his arrest was trending on Twitter with Nigerians expressing their views via the microblogging platform

“Even if you do Blood money, Ifa can’t afford the kind of money that Mompha has. It’s almost impossible to tell me there isn’t illegal shit involved. Probably laundering. All he had to do was stay lowkey but no,” a Twitter user wrote.
Another user wrote: “All I can say about the mompha case is as a young person trying to make it legitimately, you need not get pressured by social media billions, I knw somedays it hits you right in the face and you seem stupid for going legit but just keep being consistent one it would be worth it”.
I will never understand the ostentatious display of wealth on social media by people like Mompha and Hushpuppy despite their questionable wealth.
They’re obviously not on Forbes richest 500 list yet drag so much attention to themselves.
