The Nigerian music industry felt a significant impact when Seyi Shay shot to stardom after releasing her song, ‘Irawo’.Her rise was slow, steady and momentous .The svelte sexy singer later clinched City People’s Best New Musician of the Year (Female) award in 2013.
But Seyi Shay over the course of her career has experienced several mishaps capable of ruining her brand,but the melodious vocal power house has leveraged on these blunders, using them as a road-map to success.

- Don’t dwell on your mistakes
In 2017, Seyi Shay fell down while performing her Afrobeat song ‘ Yolo Yolo’ on AFRIMA stage. We won’t also forget how Seyi Shay’s gave’ One Dance’ writing credit to Wizkid rather than to Drake. This blunder was made on a Jamaican show on TV.

The ‘Murda’ singer who performed for the London Community Gospel Choir during their world tour, hasn’t allowed the mistakes to stop her from rising to the top.
“Many people are under the assumption that Superstars are Superhuman’s and that we are without mistakes. But just like every other person, we make mistakes and because we are public figures, our mistakes appear more magnified,” she said.
- Leverage on your mistakes
Twenty four months ago, ‘Yolo’ singer, Seyi Shay was under fire for not knowing the meaning of EP.
During an interview on HIP TV, Seyi Shay was asked to tell what the popular musical lingo; EP (Extended Play) stands for and Seyi gave a rather appalling response. She said it means ‘Electric Package’. This however became one of the biggest goofs of 2016.
Instead of wallowing in her gaffe, Seyi created an EP from the blunder and called it ‘Electric Package’.
Unknown to many, some inventions came about through mistakes.
Percy Spencer was experimenting with a new vacuum tube called a magnetron while doing research for the Raytheon Corporation in 1945. He tried another experiment with popcorn when the candy bar in his pocket began to melt. When the popcorn began to pop, Spencer immediately saw the potential in this revolutionary process. In 1947, Raytheon built the Radarange, the first microwave oven, which weighed 750 pounds, was 51/2 feet tall, and cost about $5,000.

Seyi Shay is not just satisfied with being a singer. She recently explored her acting talent in the movie ‘Lara and the beat’ alongside rapper, Vector.
