Humour palliative to get over stress-Koffi
Comedy is a veritable tool to reduce tension and improve the health of the people, a renowned comedian, Idowu Nuel, (a.k.a Koffi), said on Wednesday.
“At present in Nigeria as it is in some other climes, there is tense economic atmosphere which is adversely affecting people physically, mentally and financially.
“People’s health is declining due to stress and pressure.
“Improved diet, exercise and humour have become palliatives to get over this,” Nuel told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said that laughing regularly would keep one relaxed in spite of harsh economic condition.
According to Koffi, doctors now advise patients to laugh more to reduce tension.
He advised upcoming comedians to choose their words carefully when cracking jokes, adding that they should use satires with caution.
“In the past, cartoon strips in newspapers served as sarcasm and satire and it was well understood and accepted.
“Lately, people are more sensitive and take everything personal; so I personally don’t even try to get entangled in satires.
“As much as I like to deliver intelligent materials, I know the boundaries; hence, I advise others to tread with caution,” he said.
He advised the youth not to relent in efforts to strive toward perfection in the careers.
