Outspoken Nigerian music producer and singer, K-Solo has slammed media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Ms Lauretta Onochie, for posting a fake photograph, allegedly of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Sokoto rally, which held on Monday.
The exposure was made possible by the collaborative verification of journalists under the aegis of Cross Check Nigeria initiative.
Onochie claimed that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had distributed cash and food at his Sokoto rally held on Monday.
Using her verified Twitter handle, @Laurestar, Onochie tweeted an image supposedly from the Sokoto campaign rally.
While the tweet has triggered multiple retweets, TheNewsGuru gathered that the image was recycled and manipulated
After intense investigations, it was revealed that the same first appeared online in February 2017 when a Lagos-based Charity foundation released photos from an outreach. In the same vein, the same image was also used to publicize a Nollywood actor’s orphanage visit, two days later also in February 2017.
A certain twitter user Bhadmus Hakeem also discovered the error.
So “Royalty♔” tweeted this picture 8th of March 2018.
Fast Forward to December 2018, “Lauretta Onochie” tweeted the same picture with a different intent/caption.
