Some memories are just impossible to erase. The Beejay Sax Live concert held on the 14th of May 2017, at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, was one of them. The concert started at about 5.30pm with various budding gospel artistes thrilling the audience. Thereafter, ace comedian Gbenga Adeyinka mounted the stage to officially kick off the event. He started out with rib cracking jokes and then introduced the artistes one after the other.
Artistes like Femi Okunnuga, Jaiye Aboderin and TosinBee gave a good account of themselves by thrilling the audience to their magical performances. The crowning moment of that session was when the slender gospel artiste, TosinBee switched to Fuji music. This got the audience excited.
Humour merchants such as First Born, Grand Komanda, KennyBlaq, Saco, Damola and others spiced the event with their well delivered jokes .
Bolaji Banjoko a.k.a Beejay Sax is one of the country’s leading saxophonists. He is known for his harmonious saxophone notes, blending with African songs. The high point of the event was when he mounted the stage. His presentation showed that he knows the mood of his fans and perfectly in tune with how to satisfy it. Emotions ran high as he serenaded the audience by playing popular gospel tunes. They cheered and sang along with him.
Female singers like Palmira and Psalmos are amazing performers with voices so hard to ignore. They took turns to perform their songs exciting the audience with their vocal prowess. Just when we thought the concert cum album launch was over, Laolu Gbenjo, Tim Godfrey, Nosa and Tosin Alao mounted the stage. They gave an impressive performance , moving from one song effortlessly to another.
All in all, BeeJay Sax raised the bar not only because of the massive turnout , but also by daring to be different.
