Nigerian celebrities, Bimbo Thomas and Mimisola have reacted over the conduct of the recently concluded Presidential election.
TheNewsGuru recalls that President Buhari was on Tuesday declared the winner of the just concluded presidential elections following his re-election bid on the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) with a total of 15,191,847 votes, beating other contenders.
In a chat with TheNewsGuru, Bimbo Thomas expressed her dissatisfaction with the conduct of the Presidential elections.
In her words: “Nigeria’s democracy is still a toddler , we have a lot to improve on ,otherwise we would always be treated like babies .You can imagine the amount of foreigners that came into Nigeria as electoral monitors ,whereas technology should have helped us save election rigging and improve our international ratings. I beg to differ that whoever won the elections won on a basis of who knows best how to beat the analogue system of election. I did my quota as a citizen, voted my candidate (presidential, senatorial, etc ) , but I pray and hope that the elections in 2023 would be fully digitized and also involve Nigerians in diaspora”.
For actress Mimisola Daniel, she lamented over the violence that occurred in some parts of the country during the elections.
Recall that The Situation Room umbrella group of pro-democracy groups, which monitored the Presidential and senatorial elections said on Twitter that “16 deaths were recorded across 8 states”.
‘Ewu’ actress, Mimisola said:”Violence was inevitably high perhaps due to the lackadaisical attitude portrayed by INEC at the initial stage. Security of lives and properties weren’t really overseen properly”.
