Nigerians have continued to react over the absence of popular artistes at the recently held Headies award. The award took place on Saturday night 19th of October 2019 at Eko Hotel Convention Centre.
Sadly, the award was marred by the absence of some notable artistes in the Nigerian music terrain.
The event clashed with ‘Starboy festival’, a concert staged by Wizkid at the 20,000-capacity O2 arena in London.
Some of the prominent artistes who were absent at the 13th edition of the Headies but present at ‘Starboy festival’ are Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Naira Marley, Olamide, FireboyDML and others.
“Wizkid carried the whole Nigerian music industry to shut down London tonight. He’s given even the upcoming guys a platform to shine internationally at his #StarboyFest. He’s carrying his people with him to the top. That’s how a king does it. A Legend. A superstar. Our Starboy,” a user wrote.

No disrespect, but the 2019 edition of the headies award looks like an event organised in the year 1996. #headiesawards2019

Industry cabals Wizkid & Naira Marley planed a coup for headies & don jazzy & it was successful.
I feel ayo animashun is too loyal to don jazzy that’s why all the record labels feel headies is all about politics.
Ayo animashun needs to stop playing politics. #HeadiesAwards2019 pic.twitter.com/aJF5qKzGNh
