Sidney Onoriode Esiri a.k.a Dr Sid has stated that people get offended when he calls himself an upcoming artiste.
The crooner noted that as an artiste, he is constantly developing himself, adding that he is just being honest.
According to the ‘Jensimi’ singer: “I have been blessed to have been in this industry for a while. I say it a lot in interviews that I am an upcoming artiste and some people just get offended when I say that. Its not because I am trying to be humble, I am literally trying to be honest.
“If you tell yourself that you are at the top, there is only one way to go, that is down. I am constantly evolving and developing as an artiste”, he told Hip TV.
The Doctor turned singer also added that the reason an artiste organizes a concert isn’t necessarily about making money, but about catering to their fan-base.
“You can do a concert to make money. At the end of the day what you are trying to do is to cater to your fan base. Your fan-base generates money for you in more ways than just your concert. Even if you don’t make money from concerts, there are other revenues you get as an artiste”.
Asked If he has ever been under pressure to please his fans, he said: “I fell victim of trying to release a lot of music and compromising on the quality. It affected the sound that I put out”.
