Society stereotypes female comedians- Real Warri Pikin
Anita Asuoha a.k.a Real Warri Pikin is no doubt one of the most sought after comediennes and social media influencers at the moment.
Real Warri Pikin has lamented over how the society stereotypes female comedians. The outspoken curvy entertainer noted that some comediennes won’t step out because of the fear of being criticized.
Speaking in a chat with Hip TV, she said: “The society has played a major role in restricting comedians from showing their full potential. We have a lot of comedians in Nigeria, they are funny. However, the society will tell them ‘Women don’t do this, women don’t do that’. Sometimes when they start, they get to stop at some point. In my own opinion, if you are funny and you know God has called you don’t allow the society to restrict you”.
TheNewsGuru recalls that Real Warri Pikin had said depression led her into comedy.
According to her, “I discovered my comedy talent through depression. When I was in school, I used to dance professionally, host events, and do stand-up comedy. However, I didn’t really take it seriously. Last year, I fell into depression. I didn’t have money, and a lot of things went wrong. I just said to myself, “why not start making videos to motivate and inspire people in a funny way”? And here I am today”
