It was an unbelievable sight. Seriously scared but exuding life, Nigeria’s Kechi Okwuchi, evoked, not pity but pure undiluted admiration from all who witnessed her audition at the latest America Got Talent Show. The video of her amazing performance has since gone viral, with plush applause.
For those who have forgotton, Kechi Okwuchi survived the 2005 Sosoliso Airlines plane crash in Nigeria that took the lives of 107 passengers in Port Harcourt. Amazingly, she is one of the two survivors. She and 60 other other students of the Loyola Jesuit College boarded the ill fated flight from Abuja enroute Port Harcourt. It was on the same flight that the popular Pastor Bimbo Odukoya lost her life.
Kechi has evolved to be an inspiration to many, as she has risen from such a monumental calamity, like a sphinx, making lemonades out of her lemons. An enraptured audience could not believe their ears.
She graduated in May last year with a Magna Cum Laude (first class degree) in economics from the University of St. Thomas. She got a standing ovation for her touchingly brilliant rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s Thinking out Loud.
On Thursday, Kechi Okwuchi astonished everyone with her incredible voice at the audition of America Got Talent.
Recounting briefly her ordeal, Kechi says after undergoing that disastrous crash, she found solace in music as she lay on her various hospital beds, bandaged and not being able to move.
