There’s a new twist to the Kubwa robbery story as police allegedly escorted armed robbery suspect to reclaim abandoned car used for robbery operations, TheNewsGuru.com reports.
TheNewsGuru [TNG], had earlier reported that the robbers ran and left behind their operational car, ash colour Honda with registration number AZ422-MKA filled with tools when the vigilante in the estate had summon courage to confront them.
However, TNG contacted the FCT Police Command to confirm this report and the command PRO responded saying, “You will have to give me time because i have not gotten that report for me to do my check, then secondly the command have distress call numbers made available to the public”.
While filing this report TheNewsGuru gathered that the police visited the area to ask questions and examine the abandoned car but they did not check any of the affected houses.
One of the residents who spoke with TNG revealed that her neighbors went to the police station twice, but the police did not take their statement.
After the police had visited the area, it was reported that the owner of the car came to claim his car with a policeman.
Another resident explained that person who claimed to be the owner, said it is not a stolen car, that he came to drop some people in the estate at 11pm, parked the car and went home.
An eyewitness disclosed that the residents refused to grant him access to the car, so he called a police friend to help him.
He said: “The suspect was questioned, does he live in the estate, which people did he drop?”.
“He came with the police friend, who the residents thought would investigate the case, but instead the police just wanted to help his friend get the car back.
“He does not live in the estate, so he is a thief”
The residents refused the request of the policeman since he didn’t want to investigate the robberies.
“Even if the security is culpable, the police should come and do their work. Why have they refused to take the victim’s statement” he added.
Confirming this report, a reader of the initial robbery story published by the TheNewsGuru commented “Very funny: This thing happened in my hood. One guy came to claim the motor but we did not let him take it away. He even bring police but we resisted them. It was later we even discovered that this man is part of the gang”
According to reports, it was gathered that the owner of the car has been arrested and he’s currently detained at Phase 4 police station in Kubwa.
After the arrest, he confessed to be the leader of the gang and he was released from jail 6 months ago.
TheNewsGuru also confirmed that there was 10 litre jerrycan in the car which contained the acid they used to melt burglary proofs.
He was qouted saying “They use usually spray the targeted houses with powder that will make the occupants fall asleep while they operate.”
The abandoned vehicle has been impounded by the police.
