Lagos State Government said it has discharged from the quarantine facility in Yaba four more Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients: 3 females and 1 male, including a mother and her baby.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Prof Akin Abayomi, the State Commissioner for Health made this known during a press briefing, where he said the development brings the number of discharged and evacuated COVID-19 patients in the State to 24.
“In total, we have discharged 15 patients in the last two days and diagnosed 16 new cases. The principle we are trying to implement is the concept of flattening the curve, which to help us reduce the speed at which we get new patients.
“The sum total of COVID-19 cases in Lagos is 98 to date. We still have 74 active cases and 24 persons that have fully recovered and discharged, including the evacuated US citizen.
“The Local Government with the highest number of confirmed cases is Eti-Osa with 47 cases, followed by Ikeja with 24 and Lagos Mainland with 11. Alimosho, Ikorodu and Agege Local Governments have the lowest number of confirmed cases with one each.
“We are seeing most of our cases between the age bracket of 30 and 59 years. We have two patients over the age of 60 years and two patients over the age of 70 years. We have six patients between 10 and 19. Majority of our patients are male – 64% and female 36%.
“Between the 1st four weeks of the outbreak in Lagos, 82% of the cases were imported with 12% contacts of the imported cases. In the last week, the ratio has changed. We now have an increase in the number of cases that do not have travel history – 68% imported and 32% local transmission,” Prof Abayomi said.
