INEC releases candidates lists for Cross River, Kwara, Katsina, Bauchi by-elections

2019: 22,643 candidates contesting 1,504 positions – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released lists of candidates to take part in the by-elections set to hold in Katsina, Bauchi, Kwara and Cross River states.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports INEC had earlier issued the timetable and schedule of activities for the bye-elections in Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency of Katsina State, Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, Ekiti/lrepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State and lkom II State Constituency of Cross River State on 29th October 2018.

By the said timetable and schedule of activities, 4th of November, 2018 was set as the last day for the conduct of primaries by the political parties to select their candidates for the said constituencies, In accordance with Section 87 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

In the same timetable and schedule of activities, the last day for the submission of Forms CF001 and CF002 was 6th November 2018.

According to a statement by the INEC, as at the close of nomination, the following political parties submitted their lists of candidates (CF002) and their personal particulars (CF001).

“These bye-elections will hold as scheduled on 17, November, 2018. To this end, all arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of the elections.

“The Commission implores all participating political parties and their candidates to cooperate with the Commission to ensure peaceful and successful elections,” the statement read.
