The House of Representatives has adjourned its Wednesday sitting following the death of its colleague, Mr. Abayomi Abdul-Kabir Ayeola who represented Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, Lagos State and former president Shehu Shagari.
Althought the sitting led by Speaker Yakubu Dogara commenced as usual but was brief. As usual, a minute silence and prayers from Christian and Muslim faithful were observed for the lawmaker and former president Shehu Shagari who died on 30th and 31st December, 2018 respectively.
According to Speaker Dogara, a valedictory session will be made tomorrow in honour of the deceased.
Earlier, Speaker Dogara had read letters of notification on the death of Mr. Abayomi Abdul-Kabir Ayeola and former president Shehu Shagari before members on the floor.
It would be recalled that late Shehu Shagari was a lawmaker in the House of Representatives during the first republic.
TNG reports that the sitting was the first for the House in the year 2019 after it adjournment in December for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
