University Teaching Hospital has amputated a leg of a 16-year old boy, and further admitted another boy after fireworks blew up on them during 2020 New Year’s eve celebrations on Tuesday.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the sad incident occurred in Lusaka, the Capital of Zambia, and UTH, a hospital in Zambia formerly known as Lusaka Hospital, has confirmed the development in a statement.
The UTH Public Relations Officer, Natalie Mashikolo confirmed in a statement that the victims were admitted to the UTH and were receiving treatments.
He identified the victims as Mike Chinyama, whose leg had been amputated, and Steve Ngambi, whom fireworks blew up on his face.
“UTH received two fireworks victims today [Tuesday] and of the two one is a 16 year old boy, Mike Chinyama from Chelstone who has had one of his legs amputated while the other is a 9 year old boy from Chazanga Steve Ngambi with an incident of fire works which blew up in his face.
“These two are admitted and are currently receiving treatment,” said Mashikolo.
