Infinix Mobility, promising great photography and amazing 4G experiences, announced and released the Infinix S4 in April, and down the line, the much hyped phone seems not to have lived up to expectations.

The Infinix S4, also known as Infinix Hot S4, is the successor to the 2018 Infinix Hot S3. The phone is the most revamped and restructured Hot S smartphone ever released by the OEM.

The phone is the first Infinix phone to sport the dewdrop notch and triple rear cameras, and in addition, the phone features a 32MP selfie camera, the highest ever seen on an Infinix device.

However, the 32MP selfie camera and the triple main camera have not lived to expectations of users of the phone. The 13 MP (PDAF), 8 MP, 2 MP and 32 MP features packed on the Infinix S4 seems to be scam as pictures taken with the phone did not match the megapixels hype.

Also, the proximity sensor of some of the Infinix S4s is not working, especially when screen guards are used on the phone. Infinix Nigeria refused to comment on why the sensor is not working on some devices. Others, when screen guards are removed, the proximity sensor starts working.

Meanwhile, the Infinix S4 launched boasting of 4G capabilities, but finding reveals that the phone does not support the 4G networks of some major telecoms service providers in the country.

With the race for 4G networks reaching the finish line, and the race for 5G starting to gather momentum, any phone announced and released for Nigeria in 2019 should support all 4G networks of operators in the country.

Finding reveals that the Infinix phone does not support Glo and MTN 4G networks. Worse still, not all 3G bands are covered. However, the Infinix S4 supports 9Mobile and Airtel 4G networks. Other 4G networks the phone supports are that of NTel, Spectranet and Swift.

Aside these shortcomings, the Infinix S4 is an impressive smartphone. The fingerprint sensor, face unlock, 4000 mAh battery, the 6.26-inch IPS Touchscreen all works just as fine.

The latest Android 9.0 Pie OS sits in the software department together with the XOS 5.0 skin. Hence, you have a Smart Bar feature where you can easily access a maximum of three tools and nine apps.

However, it is best to go for the 6GB RAM variant of the phone, for more storage and premium experience.
