Roger Federer and Serena Williams on Tuesday won the Sportsperson of the Year award at the 2018 edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards.
The event took place at the Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Where Federer won the World Sportsman of the year award, Serena won the World Sportswoman of the Year award.
Federer also won the World Comeback of the Year award and was congratulated by the International Tennis Federation:
The victory was Federer’s sixth sportsman award in a trophy-laden career that looked all but over until winning Wimbledon 2017, aged 35.
He has since won the Australian Open again and is now back to the summit of the men’s tennis ranking.
Williams won the award on the back of a wonderful 2017 that saw her become the tennis player with the highest number of grand slam wins and going off to have a baby.

Sporting Inspiration Award: J.J. Watt
Best Sporting Moment: Chapecoense (Eternal Champions)
Lifetime Achievement: Edwin Moses
