Victims of Sunday’s pipeline explosion at Abule-Egba area of Lagos are beginning to recount their loses after the mysterious fire that took them all by surprise ravaged their hard earned belongings to ashes.
It all happened like a joke on Sunday at a time most residents were either relaxing or putting necessary things in place in readiness for Monday’s (today) hectic demands in Lagos.
Unknowing to many, some daredevil vandals were at work. Maybe they’ve made other successful attempts at their illegal businesses in the area but Sunday’s was not to be.
In less than a minute, the once peaceful area was in thick smoke with residents scampering for safety. It was indeed a hellish sight to behold.
According to photos and videos from Anthony O. Onogbo, the area was in shambles after men of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other sister agencies successful put out the fire.
In one of the videos, a landlady whose house was razed was seen making inaudible calls and also looking at the shambles in disbelief.

Meanwhile, unverified reports has it that residents had earlier reported the nefarious activities of the vandals to the Police and traditional ruler in the area.
The grieving residents blamed the police for not taking appropriate action on the intelligence report which according to them could have led to the arrest of the vandals and also prevent the disastrous explosion that have so far claimed the lives of three people (including a child) and injured several others.
