Two siblings charged with robbing man of phone at bus stop
Two siblings — Abiodun Musbau and Sarafa Musbau — who were allegedly caught robbing a man of his phone at a bus stop, were on Thursday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The two brothers were caught at Agric Bus Stop in Ikorodu robbing the complainant, Mr Olushola Korede, of his phone while returning home from his workplace, according to the prosecution.
The accused — Musbau, 17 and Sarafa Musbau, 28 — who are residents of Isawo Road, Oke-Oko in Ikorodu, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty.
But Police Prosecutor John Iberedem insisted that the accused committed the offences on June 17 at 11.00 p.m. at Agric Bus Stop with others still at large.
According to him, they snatched the complainant of his Gionee phone worth N50, 000 in the presence of some passersby, who helped to apprehend them.
“The two brothers were caught immediately by some passersby but others ran away.”
The offences contravened Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offenders may, on conviction, be jailed three years, according to the provisions of the law.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs F. A. Azeez granted the two brothers N40, 000 bail each with one surety each in like sum.
She said one of the sureties must be blood relations of the accused and adjourned the case until July 25.\
