The spate of insecurity which has descending on most parts of Delta state, took a horrendous twist late Sunday evening when heavily armed men abducted a visiting billionaire, his father and two others at Obior town in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
This came a few days after suspected herdsmen killed three persons and abducted seven others at Issele-Asagba town in the same local government area.
The victims of the dastardly killings were two women who were killed at a Guest House at Issele-Asagba and a man who was murdered on his farm.
The kidnapped victims at Obior were a man identified as Elvis Ojeogwu (a well known billionaire in Delta state), his father and two other persons.
A family source said in Asaba yesterday that Elvis was abducted along with his aged father and two family friends at their family house.
The friends had gone to rejoice with the family that Elvis visited home when they were abducted.
“Elvis went to his village to see his father on Sunday. He was with his father and two other well-wishers when the gunmen struck. They whisked four of them away in their waiting vehicle. They operated quickly.
“Elvis is popular and rich. He resides in Asaba. We were surprised that they trailed him to the village. The development has caused panic within the community. They perpetrators have not reached us, neither have we been able to reach them,” the source said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the police had launched manhunt for the hoodlums.
She promised that the perpetrators would be arrested soon.
