The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Gabriel Olonisakin on Thursday said a psychological research can’t be conducted on the cause of Boko Haram insurgency until the war has been uprooted.
The Defence Chief made this declaration while reacting to questions while defending his ministry’s 2020 budget.
Hon Zainab Gimba, representing Borno, had asked the minister that “in May 2015, President Muhamnadu Buhari had stated that a psychological research will be conducted on what led to the insurgency in the North East.
In his response, Gen Olonisakin said”we can’t conduct a research until we have adequately uprooted the insurgents.
” Once we have uprooted them then we can conduct the psychological research on what caused the insurgency.
On the security linkage to infrastructure and how men and women trek 32km to get relief materials due to poor road infrastructure, Olonisakin said:
“Thank God we have the North East Development Commission that can be asked to channel resources to the right place to get such infrastructure fixed.
