The arrowhead of the opposition in the House of Representatives, Hon Ogundu Kingsley Chinda has said there’s still uncertainty and confusion over the opposition leadership in the House.
Chinda made this assertion known to TNG on Thursday while reacting to the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was asleep in the ninth House.
Chinda who represents Obio Akpor Federal Constituency of Rivers State in a chat said it’s out of place to claim that the opposition was dead.
He explained that”it’s funny to hear people sat such a thing or make such a sweeping claim that there’s no opposition in the ninth Assembly because as you are aware there’s confusion and uncertainty in the opposition camp.
” But you can’t say that about the Senate as the leader of opposition there, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has been a vibrant voice both on the floor and outside it.
“As an opposition party we have never met as members of the opposition to discuss issues about the party on ways and means to build a virile opposition in the House of Representatives.
“Or to even discuss government programmes and how to key into it and take a common position as to the way forward.
“So to an extent there’s still a voice of opposition in the ninth Assembly if you consider the fact that the Senate is displaying the role an opposition party is expected to play.
He further stressed that “as it’s there’s still crack in the opposition leadership because the party still recognises us as the leader of the opposition.
“This could be as a result of the imbroglio surrounding the issue of leadership of the opposition and it’s my fervent wish that the party heals it so that opposition ship can take off.
“Once that is done whichever way it goes you will see robust opposition thrust that will further galvanise the House to a greater shape.
