A Federal High Court, Lagos, on Friday discharged and acquitted former Gov. Rasheed Ladoja of Oyo State of corruption charges.
The ruling was given by Justice Mohammed Idris.
Justice Idris, while delivering the judgment, held that the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC did not provide enough evidence to against Ladoja.
Ladoja was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with converting N4.7 billion from the state’s treasury for his personal use.
He was re-arraigned along with Akanbi, his former Commissioner for Finance on 11 counts charge of money laundering and unlawful conversion of public funds. They had pleaded not guilty to the charges, and were granted bails.
But at the resumed hearing today, the judge set the duo free, ruling that the anti-graft agency could not supply enough evidence to nail them.
