At last the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Budget that had hiccups in a straight budget cycle can now run from January to January as President Muhamnadu Buhari assents the budget.
The FCT budget for over a decade has never enjoyed a January to January budget cycle until this new dispensation that Buhari endorsed its budget on January 9th.
The House of Representatives had on December 20th, last day of plenary in 2019, endorsed the FCT budget, breaking the ten years jinx of dislocated budget cycle.
A top member of the House of Representatives FCT Committee who spoke to TNG under the condition of anonymity said:
“It’s heart gladdening that at last the administrators of the capital city can enjoy a January to January budgeting process that has eluded it for over ten years.
“Take the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), it is running a dislocated cycle, until it is well fitted, it remained so.
“The national Assembly deserves commendation for this laudable development as you don’t have to mid year for FCT budget,” he said.
