If the Statistician General of the Federation and CEO of the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Dr. Yemi Kale and Reno Omokri met in real life over discourse on a supposedly new NBS job report, they could have actually thrown physical punches.
TheNewsGuru reports, however, the punches are being thrown on Twitter after Reno Omokri made a tweet alleging the NBS just released another jobs report showing that in the last 21 months, an additional 7.9 million Nigerians became unemployed under Buhari, stressing that this was the first government since 1999 that has never reported job gains, only job losses.
“This is fake news. NBS never released any such report. NBS last report was on unemployment for Q3 2017 with the update up to Q2 2018 in progress. Let’s kindly keep NBS away from politics or fake news. We do not support politicization of data, neither do we respect people that do so,” Yemi responded.
And as u can see or I hope u can see it It was published in December 2017 and covers up to q3 2017. NOT a new report in July 2018 about job loses in the last 21 months and not even about job losses either.

Also “my NBS” NEVER said at anytime 7.9 mn or any nos of jobs were lost. NBS stated a rise in unemployment which was properly explained in d report. Either you read it to understand or ask someone to explain how it works so we dont mislead people in our enthusiasm to do politics

If you have a quarrel, face the source. Obviously your release of December 2017 was republished (not by me) but if even it was republished there is nothing fake about it. Your NBS reported that 7.9 million jobs were lost in 21 months not so? https://t.co/s0fANb3BJy

I’m d worst person to do this rubbish with. Now U tweeted w/out suggesting u were lifting it from elsewhere. Now u want to claim u got it elsewhere. Why didn’t u say that in your initial tweet. U really can’t see how ridiculous u sound? Or just want to wriggle our of a bungle?
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Please understand that u can’t wriggle out of this one. YOU posted TODAYon your handle that a new report by NBS had been published saying 7.9m jobs lost in the last 21 months. That is false false false.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Secondly you show reports published last year and now claim it wasn’t u that posted the news. Where did any of the reports say nbs has released a new report saying 7 mn jobs lost. Honesty and integrity and the ability to admit when u good should be a virtue of a pastor
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Yemi, you have a media team. If a report was published YESTERDAY on nairaland (and I showed it to you) and it is untrue then you should have rebutted it. What is dishonest about that? Why now get angry when members of the public act on that report? https://t.co/dSaQfC6GXy
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
This is the report that is on nairaland. This is the link https://t.co/BWfT5WQIPp. How is it dishonest to say that a report I read about yesterday was just released? Yemi, is anyone threatening you? https://t.co/bfIHE1dNM2 pic.twitter.com/KpXa3zHo9y
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Pls stop it. U are embarrassing yourself assuming u Dover embarrassed. The first line says the date report was published. You now come on twitter to mislead by saying “NEW REPORT”. I won’t allow nbs to be destroyed under politics. Data is too important.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
‘Embarrassing myself’? Is it your embarrassment? You owe me an apology. The story was published yesterday on @nairaland, where I read it. Which is why I used ‘just released’. I just also found out @channelstv published it December. Did Channels also lie? https://t.co/t7ICZWuDKX
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
U showed a report published in dec 2017 after u had posted it without any suggestion u were lifting it from somewhere else and even where u claim u lifted it from was since dec 2017 and I want to pas it as some new report posted yesterday?
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
No Yemi. This shows that you are either not reading my tweets. I don’t want to quarrel with you unnecessarily. READ MY TWEETS. The story was published YESTERDAY on @Nairaland. It is still there even right now. I showed you photos and have you links https://t.co/bfIHE0WcUu
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Is it that u believe your followers are foolish or maybe U think im foolish. Have some honor man. Ability to admit you goofed is an endearing trait. Everybody messes up every now and then. It shows integrity and character.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Yemi, are you being threatened, because this is unlike you. Look at your language! You‘re usually not pedestrian, How could I have goofed when I showed you the story published YESTERDAY. If anyone goofed, it’s you. If their story is false, face them not me https://t.co/zw72imZlsB
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Did U publish a tweet saying nbs release a new report on jobs? YES U DID. Did u say u saw it on a nairaland and Channels site or source them at the time of your post ? NO U DID NOT. Did those sites say it was a new report or tslknof job losses as u claimed? NO THEY DID NOT.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Yes I did tweet about a new NBS job report. When you challenged me I showed you my source. The story was published YESTERDAY. Using ‘JUST’ is accurate. But let’s for the sake of argument concede that using just is wrong. Did @Nairaland and @ChannelsTV lie? https://t.co/Q3hDxn1l5w
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
😅 I was waiting for this rubbish about being threatened. Such rubbish doesn’t work on me sir. Diversion away from what u did as statistician general is not acceptable by you or anybody else and I won’t accept it.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
You have used ‘foolish’, ‘dishonest’ and other strong negative words on me. I never took offence because I know who God says I am. I asked a question if you are being threatened and you take offence? Okay, I apologise if the question offended you https://t.co/QX8LQnUhIL
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Oh and I can’t face them bcis they never said any new report was released by nbs. You did. The lie was from you. You lied either intentionally or accidentally. Either way you were the source of misinformation about nbs and nbs data so is u I’ll face and only u
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Yemi, you‘re more than this. Dont do this to yourself. @Nairaland headline from YESTERDAY ‘7.9 Million Nigerians Became Unemployed In 21 Months – NBS’. @ChannelsTV headline ‘7 Million Nigerians Unemployed in 21 months’, and you are upset with me? Seriously https://t.co/wk5p7aD1AO
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
The information on Channels is accurate but your post isn’t. Your post is false either bcos u didn’t comprehend what u were reading or chose to mislead.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
.@ChannelsTV headline says “7.9 million Nigerians Became Unemployed In 21 months – NBS”, you admit it‘s true. then @Nairaland publishes same thing almost word for word YESTERDAY and your quarrel is with me for using the word ‘just released’ based on that? https://t.co/tQeHPa6JRk
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
You are just wasting your time. Youwon’t get away with false news and fake news while quoting nbs falsely as your source. Nobody will. I’ll call u and anybody else out every time. Unless I didn’t see it.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
But it is my time, allow me waste it. You yourself just admitted that the @ChannelsTV report is true. You yourself admitted that @Nairaland released a report YESTERDAY almost word for word. But your quarrel is with me for using ‘just released’?https://t.co/NjXxgmlXyk
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
U have published this story on our report before and I didn’t say anything bcos at the time it was accurate re what we published but this time you LIED and it’s my job to call u out for fake news ansbill always do so
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
No Yemi. I did not LIE and I do not LIE. The report was published YESTERDAY in @nairaland. If the lie you claim is the ‘just released’ part then blame your media team for not challenging the Nairaland report which you admit is accurate but for the date https://t.co/GfpQLjLLCI
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Nbs never reported any job losses but states the unemployed rose. Get it right!! U are free to interfere as u like but don’t attribute your interpretation to NBS falsely like u did
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
I dont understand you. In your last tweets, you admitted that @ChannelsTV was accurate, now you are saying this. Are you aware that Channels reported as follows “7.9 million Nigerians Became Unemployed In 21 months – NBS”. Which is it Yemi? Wrong or right? https://t.co/knzCcQTgxR
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Lol … now attempting to shift focus and change the narrative… u really have no respect for my intelligence so u…You lies that nbs released a new report after the one u had earlier made noise about months earlier. That’s Fake news from u and neither of your sources said it
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Yemi, is this you? Statistician General of the Federation LOLLing? Really? In any case, I have proved with photographic and documentary evidence that everything I say is accurate. If the dates were wrong, then blame the media that reported it on that date https://t.co/DaqPcsTxBL
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Lool Awon olodo members club.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
Dear Yemi,
Don’t you think this has gone too far? How can the Statistician General of Nigeria, a man paid with tax payer funds, publicly call a member of the public ‘olodo’? Where is your decorum? I know you can be better than this! What happened to you? https://t.co/bGzvE51Z8Z
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
Lool Attempt at blackmail and still trying to shift focus. I thought u heard about me. That doesn’t work on me. U lied and I’ll advise u don’t do that with nbs or I’ll call u out. I watch all u say and I say nothin. When u bring nbs into it then we have a problem.
— Dr Yemi Kale (@sgyemikale) July 30, 2018
On my own part, this conversation has gone far enough. I thought I was dealing with a gentleman. But when the Statistician General of Nigeria publicly calls a tax payer ‘OLODO’, I draw the line. I thought I was dealing with a polished person. Good night https://t.co/FCw7wOx6mK
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) July 30, 2018
However, evidently, the supposed new NBS job report was published in December 2017.
