The House of Representatives ad-hoc on media says no party has taken position on the zoning of principal officers.

The ad-hoc committee gave the hint on Monday in Abuja while updating newsmen of the activities of the 9th House which is currently on recess.
Fielding answers to newsmen, a member of the ad-hoc committee, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi (APC, Plateau) explained that there is no political party that has yet decided on where the position of what should be zone to.
According to Hon. Gagdi, issue of principal officers is not the responsibility of one party. There are principal officers that are the responsibility of even the minority parties in the National Assembly. So both the PDP, APC, APGA that have representation in the National Assembly are yet to sit down and say where should which offices be zoned to.
“So at this moment, I don’t think we’ve received any communication from Mr. Speaker or leadership of any political parties regarding to the position of political officers of the National Assembly.”
The lawmaker further revealed that in their last meeting with the Speaker, he did mentioned that it is only the media committee that will work beyond the two weeks.
He said until a substantive committee are put in place before the work of the ad-hoc committee on media ends.
Speaking also regarding activities of other inaugurated ad-hoc committees of the House, Hon. Abubakar Yunusa noted that the committees are not only inaugurated but are working.
“As for the selection committee, tomorrow Tuesday will be the last day that each and every member must have submitted its own. They have issued out guidelines and criteria for the selection of committees and each State caucuses have there own. They are returning the forms tomorrow Tuesday which is the deadline and by Wednesday they will act upon it. So for you to know that it is work in progress but they have gone this far”.
Explaining further, Hon Yunusa said, ” as for the welfare committee who are supposed to take care of our offices, I believe by now they too must have gone far. For the selection committee, they’re good to go. And for the Rules and Business Committee, they are also working. The two weeks is about rounding up. By the time they come we’ll give you feedback even before the end of this week”.
Earlier at the briefing, chairperson of the ad-hoc committee on media, Hon. Khadija Ibrahim reiterated plans of the proposed reforms expected of the 9th House as pledged by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
Hon. Ibrahim disclosed that Speaker Gbajabiamila will visit Zamfara and Borno States for a start regarding the visit to examine Constituency projects.
According to her, the Speaker urged Nigerians to help him make his work easier.
“He appealed to stakeholders to join hands to make Nigeria great. We don’t need to heat the polity. We should be very patient because other developed nation was not built one day. It requires dues processes”, she added
