#Osundecides: Tinubu takes over Osun APC, leads battle against PDP ahead of rerun
Apparently worried over the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, the generalissimo of South West politics, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly shouldered the responsibility of leading the battle against Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the rerun election which would take place in seven polling units located in Orolu, Osogbo, Ife North and Ife South council areas on Thursday.
According to information reaching TheNewsGuru[TNG], the former Lagos governor was said to have hijacked the machinery of the Osun’s APC from the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola and has started reeling out strategies to help reclaim the parties glory, which was almost snuffed out by Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Tinubu, TNG can authoritatively report moved into Osun State on Monday with some of his political acolytes and has commenced strong moves to win the heart of Osun ‘rerun-bride’, Sen. Iyiola Omisore.
Recall that Omisore who is the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate in the deadlocked election turned the bride of the two parties as the rerun elections fell in some of his very strong holds.
Omisore’s father, Oba David Omisore, is the ruler of Garage Olode, a town in Ife South, where the election in two units were cancelled.
Among the top Tinubu’s men who will play the pivotal role in the reclamation of Osun on Thusday are Gov-elect in Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi; Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State; former Minster of state for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, who is an associate of Omisore.
On the other side, Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode; Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose among others are leading PDP negotiations in courting Omisore.
A source close to Omisore who spoke to TNG under condition of anonymity, stated that both Tinubu and the PDP have presented juicy promises to lure Omisore to either of their sides.
“The two parties have commenced talks with Omisore, but rather he [Omisore] has not made any strong declarative statement in support of neither PDP or APC, he is still weighing his options .
“I am aware that APC is promising to give a huge sum of money to Omisore [figures not disclosed] and also present him an automatic ticket to run for senatorial seat on the platform of APC. However, don’t forget that PDP gave Ife its deputy governor position and are equally promising Omisore a senatorial seat.
Findings revealed that top officials of Osun APC on the order of Tinubu have been approached to prevail on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Yusuf Lasun who represents Orolu Local Government Area to work on him to help mobilise for the party to win the remaining 947 votes.
The PDP had won the council area by 7,776 votes compared to the APC which won 5,442 votes and the SDP which got 2,043 votes. That is despite the fact that the area is represented by Lasun, an APC stalwart.
Recall that Lasun also contested the Osun State governorship ticket under the APC but lost it to Oyetola.
I’ll back any party if — Omisore
On his part, Omisore said he would be willing to support any political party that would implement his agenda of good governance, payment of full salaries to workers and prompt payment of pensioners’ allowances.
Omisore said: “I have given my programmes to both APC and PDP. My programme is like this; payment of salaries and pensions. Good governance is what is important to me.
“Anyone between the two that will do that will get my support. I am passionate about Osun, and my interest is the welfare of the people of this state. I have told those sent to me.
At the appropriate time, we will tell you where we are going.”

Omisore’s clout however transcends the immediate and will determine who wins Osun in the 2019 gubernatorial race.
I’m aware that Buhari through Fayemi has reached out to him but Omisore’s heart is PDP and I’m confident the results on Thursday will confirm this.

I must confess the Osun outcome has humbled me irrespective of who wins the rerun! So it is in order to say if Sen Omisore did not decamp to SDP that pulled 128, 049 votes, PDP would have had an outright win? This must be a wake up call for APC to avoid being victim of complacency https://t.co/RFs1GOk2ju

I’ve always heard that no Money in OSUN STATE; but 48 people wanted to be Governor; now, 2 political parties are committing billions pursuing 3,000 votes in a RERUN run-amok. Plenteous treasures in Osun, but the greedy and gluttonous are innumerable too. #SMACKDOWN
