… Buhari’s Minsterial appointments from the zone designed to sweep states
..the Amaechi, Akpabio, Keyamo, Agba, Ehanire, Jeddy Agba, Sylva need a magic wand to change the game
The appointment of key ministers from the South South geo-political zone of Nigeria is a masterstroke primarily designed by the All Progressives Congress, APC to sweep all the governorship seats come 2023 general elections in the zone.
The APC strategists are truly awake to the challenges ahead and in a bid to hold the zone that is predominantly Peoples Democratic Party, PDP confirmed stronghold in Nigeria, strong men from the zone were appointed ministers.
The Buhari’s men in this scheme include: Rotimi Amaechi who heads the ministry of Transportation, Senator Godswill Akpabio heads the ministry of Niger Delta, Festus Keyamo,SAN, is the minister of state of same ministry, a perfect marriage, Clement Agba heads Budget and National Planning,Osagie Ehanire heads Health, Jeddy Agba to use Power to conquer Cross Rivers.
Akwa Ibom where Akpabio hails from for the past 20 years has been a traditional PDP state. Akpabio a former chieftain of PDP ruled the state for eight years.
His romance with the APC made him a laughing stock in a state he held sway as almost a demi god. Can he deliver the state that he was once a kingmaker.
The answer is a capital No, the law of karma caught up with him because he got overdose of what he did to his former principal Obong Victor Attah.
This development will continue to chase him all through his political sojourn as it was displayed in the 2019 general elections. He lost everything in sight.
Bayelsa the home state of Timipre Sylva, Minister of State Petroleum Resources is another footstool of the PDP. For five years he was the state governor.
He joined APC and all his sins were forgiven. Sylva is still eyeing the Government House in Bayelsa. His chances are very remote because the likes of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Seriake Dickson, Patience Jonathan and the men of valour in the state won’t give him an inch to get close to the state house in Yenogoa.
Cross Rivers State is where the minister of state, Jeddy Agba hails from. A rich ministry that could be used to further enrich the state if eventually he decides to run for governorship.
All the political heavyweights in the state belong to PDP. Agba may just be on a solo run to achieve the APC dreams in the Niger Delta axis.
Delta the Big Heart of the nation in the recent past, APC has acquired some of the strongest political heavyweights in the state.
This is where the minister of state on Niger Delta hails from. Keyamo the activist lawyer has a lot of assignments to complete in a state that has been dominated by PDP.
The state parades strong men like Emmanuel Uduaghan, Great Ogboru,O’tega Emerhor, the deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege which by extension is the leader of the South South geo-political zone of Nigeria.
These men have a role to play in the Delta State politics of 2023 not Keyamo because the activist lawyer may not even win his ward in 2023.
If Omo-Agege decides to run for governorship there’s plenty of headaches for PDP but the man may not if his party decides to retain him at the Federal level.
But to achieve anything meaningful in Delta State, these men must first and foremost contest with the gadfly of Delta politics, Chief Onanefe Ibori.
Ibori still holds the four aces in Delta State politics and has maintained the political rotational system in the state. It’s the turn of the Okpes in Delta Central to produce the next governor and Ibori is not a violator of agreed positions.
Delta politics in 2023 maybe dicey but the APC should be ready for a good fight.
Edo had two ministers but that may not change the political permutations as the APC has never won anything presidential election in the state.
Even if the state gets four ministers Edo state cannot even deliver, the records are there for all to see not even the Adams Oshiomhole factor which in most cases exhibits negativity.
Rivers is the state Amaechi once controlled as a PDP governor after unseating his cousin Celestine Omeha, through the courts.
In 2015 as an incumbent he couldn’t deliver his boy Dr Dakuku Peterside.
The former governor was taught the rule of the game which is, you don’t use and dump your men.
The men he dumped showed him the way out of government house.
In 2019 again, as a super minister Amaechi was taught a bitter political lesson which the minister will not be in a hurry to forget.
By 2023, Amaechi should relax his nerves because he is the only Rivers man in APC. Every other relevant person in Rivers is in PDP.
As a super minister he couldn’t deliver and now that he has been demoted can he get a political erection to defeat the Nyesom Wike political machine.
The answer is No!
The Niger Delta is the footstool of PDP any attempt to come through the backdoor may be resisted by the people through the ballot box.
These Buhari’s men need more than a magic wand to change the game in the Niger Delta.
