Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday calls for prayers for Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris Kpotun, stressing that the IGP’s infamous transmission speech blunder was not ordinary.
“Our I-G of Pol. needs prayers and we must treat him with compassion. What happened to him whilst reading his infamous “transmission” speech was not ordinary,” the former Aviation Minister stated.
TheNewsGuru reports a video footage showing IGP Idris emerged yesterday with the Police boss finding it difficult pronouncing words from an already prepared speech before him.
The incident took place in Kano on Monday, May 14, 2018, where he went to commission the Force Technical Intelligence Unit, according to the Voice of Liberty.
“I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of… and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command,” Idris babbled in the video.
After several attempts to get his speech right, the IGP, struggling with his paper, apologised to his audience. “Sorry, I’m sorry please,” he said.
However, Ibrahim’s struggle did not end there. A man in suit joins him to help hold down his script, and even helped with the pronunciation of the words. But this didn’t make the reading any better for the IGP.
“All effective the transmission, other transmission, I can state without contradiction that I have commissioned what?
“Over transmission of, over transmission of, over all kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes, I mean, ehm, commission transmission, recommendation transmission” he continued.
While many have attributed the IGP babbling to dyslexia, Fani-Kayode said the IGP was a victim of dark spirits and satanic forces.
“He is the victim of dark spirits and satanic forces. We must not gloat over it or laugh at him. Instead we must pray for him,” he said.
On three different occasions, the IGP Idris has refused to honour an invitation sent to him by the Senate.
The IGP was mandated to appear before the Senate to brief Nigerians on the killings within the country and the treatment meted out to Senator Dino Melaye.
The lawmakers got angry with the police boss because he gave no reason for his absence.
Also recently Senate President Bukola Saraki raised alarm of plots by IGP Idris to frame him up.
There have been calls for President Buhari to sack Idris for disobeying an order given to him to relocate to Benue state during the killings by Fulani herdsmen.
