President of National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Solomon Adodo on Monday said the potentials of Nigerian youths across the federation would be tapped to create jobs for the unemployed.
Adodo was speaking after he was sworn in as the President of the NYCN when he stated this, while also stressing that the Council will partner governments at all levels in order to achieve its objectives.
“Our administration shall bring out the best from the Nigerian youths, tapping their potentials to create jobs for the unemployed across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“It’s a turning point for us the youths and a new dawn of many challenges ahead of us because our great assets do not lie in the oil fields but lie with the youth of this country.
“We’ll go to all the nooks and crannies of this country, from Sokoto to Ogbomoso, to Kara Namoda and all parts of the country to discover talents that can be used to produce jobs for the jobless.
“The Council will partner all governments at all levels and to ensure it is properly carried along to the betterment of all. We shall work with government to help combat insecurity in the country using the youths to the fullest,” Adodo said.
Earlier, Secretary General of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Willy Ezeugo had said Nigerian elders have failed the nation, and that the youths should be allowed to take over.
“I am an elder, let the truth be said, we the elders we have failed the nation and it’s about time we give the youths the opportunity to serve Nigeria and prove their mettle. I was a youth leader at my prime but today as an elder I am asking my mates to step aside for the younger ones,” Ezeugo said.
Speaking almost in the same vein, former president of NYCN, Comrade Olayemi Success said the “youth actually love this nation more than anything and I hope this new exco should be ready to reject their biological fathers to enable them excel”.
