CORONA WATCH: A TNG Corporate Social Responsibility service
“ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL”
With over 253, 900 infections, 10,400 deaths, and 89,000 recoveries, experts, the world over, agree our best bet against Corona virus is collective action: We must all take responsibility and do the right things immediately for “each second counts”. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the case in one situation.
A female radio presenter on Ray Power FM called attention to a very disturbing development. Almost a week after the Saturday, March 14 AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards) event, some attendees posted online that they noticed an actor who had just returned from the UK apparently displaying some of the symptoms. Other attendees confirmed same.
Indeed, one person shared a screen grab of conversation with this actor who seems to have tried escaping back to the UK after the event! (In denial or for lack of confidence in our health system or both maybe). They were asking the individual to contact the health authorities or else they will be forced to call him/her out.
Why wait some many days after you noticed this? Why give more time for the possible spread? For his sake, for your sakes (all who were at the event), and all of us Nigerians please, please do the right thing. If this person has contacted the virus, it means all the attendees are also at risk! Worse still, we are all at risk. If he isn’t, then all well and good. Meanwhile, will it be a good idea for all attendees at that event to self-isolate until we confirm his status.
Please do the right thing:
-
Share the information with the health authorities, especially the National Centre for Disease Control. Now.

-
Multichoice/DSTV, the AMVCA organisers: jump atop this immediately. We trust you will share the facts on this and other developments.
-
The health authorities should also follow this lead.

With its huge followership, the very socially mobile entertainment community is well placed to be in the forefront of this battle. While some are doing so, others need to join in with information from WHO, NCDC, etc.
The dictum here is: “all for one, one for all”
