The wreckage from the plane carrying Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala has been discovered in the English Channel.
The wreckage was found on Sunday morning off Guernsey, according to a privately-funded search operation directed by David Mearns.
The Piper Malibu N264DB was lost on the 21st of January on its way from Nantes, France to Cardiff, with the Argentine striker and pilot David Ibbotson on board.
In a tweet, Mearns said: “The families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by police.”
According to him, “Tonight our sole thoughts are with the families and friends of Emiliano and David.”
Sala was signed by Cardiff for a club record of £15m and he was to begin training last month.
Sala, 28, and Ibbotson, 59, from Crowle, North Lincolnshire, were traveling from Nantes, where he had formerly played when the flight lost contact with air traffic controllers.
