Over 6 breakout sessions, 3 main talks, industry experts for WordPress first-ever WordCamp in Nigeria
The WordPress Community in Nigeria has announced it will host the first official WordCamp conference in the country.
TheNewsGuru reports more than 500 attendees including bloggers, designers, developers, digital strategists, startups, entrepreneurs, business owners, partners and tech enthusiasts are expected to take part in the event.
WordCamps are locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress, the free and open source publishing software that powers over 75 million sites on the web.
“ WordPress has always been about websites, but it’s not just about websites. It’s about freedom, about possibility, and about carving out your own livelihood, whether it’s by making a living through your site or by working in the WordPress ecosystem itself.
“We’re democratizing publishing – and democratizing work – for everyone, regardless of language, ability, or economic wherewithal,” WordPress co-founder, Matt Mullenweg said.
Speaking with TheNewsGuru on preparations for the conference, Oluseun Taylor said the conference will be declared opened with a keynote address to get the attendees acquainted with WordCamp as well as their immediate environment.
He revealed that over six breakout sessions and three main talks will feature during the event, and that the conference will feature industry experts in Nigeria and beyond who will share strategies that will further enhance WordPress usability for attendees.
“Regular talks as well as live technical sessions will focus on design, development, security, content, business and community affairs concerning WordPress.
“A kids’ camp is also slated to hold on the same day for 20 children between the ages of 7 – 14,” he stated.
According to a statement by the organizers, the conference will be concluded with an attendee after-party to create an avenue for networking amongst the attendees, speakers and partners.
WordCamp Lagos, scheduled to hold on March 10, 2018 at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos, promises to be “educative, entertaining and rewarding as there will be lots of side attractions as well as swags”.
