The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said it had commenced the training of 150 youths on Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Osun to address unemployment in the state.
Mr Oyaremi Suleiman, the Project Coordinator of the programme, who disclosed this at the opening of the five-day training, said it would expose the youths to the working tools of software, TheNewsGuru can report.
Suleiman said that the training would also offer the youths the opportunity to be self employed in the area of ICT business.
He said that each of the 150 participants would be given a brand new laptop, a modem and a certificate of participation.
“After the training, the youths will be exposed to understand the different ventures of excel, CorelDraw, windows and power point.
“This will also assist them to be self employed in ICT business because ICT is essential for individual, community growth and global development,” he said.
TheNewsGuru reports the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yussuff Lasun, who facilitated the training, said it was aimed at taking the youths off the street to reduce unemployment among them in the state.
Lasun, who was represented by Prof. Remi Ajala, said that the training was also part of the fulfillment of his campaign promises to his immediate constituency.
The trainees were selected from four local government areas comprising of Irepodun, Olorunda, Orolu and Osogbo Federal Constituency.
