UPDATED: EFCC confirms raid on Heritage Bank, arrest of staff

The Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, on Tuesday confirmed raiding the head office of Heritage Bank situated on Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island, Lagos.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the anti-graft agency also arrested three staff of the bank.

Recall that TheNewsGuru.com had earlier exclusively reported the arrest and raid on the bank by operatives of the EFCC.

Confirming the arrest and invasion, spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren told TheNewsGuru.com that the organization is currently investigating some issues relating to Heritage bank. “That is all I can say for now” he told TheNewsGuru.com.

According to an insider source (in the bank) who spoke in confidence with TheNewsGuru.com, the EFCC operatives had earlier raided the bank last week Monday picking up an official, Funmi Taiwo.

TheNewsGuru.com gathers that the operatives later came again on Friday and arrested one Adetola Sanusi (who works at Fincon department of the bank).

Not yet satisfied, the TheNewsGuru.com reports that the EFCC operatives stormed the bank again on Tuesday (today) and arrested Adewunmi Adeniyi who is the Head of Compliance of the bank.

The source, however, maintained that the EFCC operatives did not state any reason for the arrests and invasion.

As at the time of filing this report, the  TheNewsGuru.com reports that the EFCC officials are still at the bank premises arresting staff.
